Beyond my regular academic work as well as in my humanitarian outreach efforts, I’ve always sought to use my expertise in the political arena.  Whether addressing national issues in the U.S. or local issues in my surrounding communities, I have been committed to trying to improve American society.  For me, having a political view and taking action are essential elements in being human: making the world a better place.  I don’t think we can improve society without having a point of view and sharing it. Whether it’s working with refugees, beautifying nature, building humane businesses, empowering the poor, or raising strong families, we need to have a point of view and advocate for it.
